  • What We Believe

    We Believe: 

    1. That the Bible is God’s Word and that it does not contain any error.
    2. That Jesus Christ is the Son of God
    3. That Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, that he died on the cross and that he arose on the third day.
    4. That Jesus Christ went back to His Father in heaven and now sits on His right side.
    5. That man can only be saved from eternal damnation through grace and that it is a gift from God.
    6. That salvation can not be attained by works.
    7. That salvation only comes through acceptance that Jesus Christ died and rose and that he is the only way man can escape damnation.
    8. That one day Christ will return to gather His Church together and there we will forever be with him in glory
  • How do I rent your facilities for my event?

    We offer both our church sanctuary and our fellowship / banquet hall to be rented for special events. The Mt Vernon Baptist Church sanctuary may be rented for weddings or other spiritual events, while the E.A. Johnson Fellowship hall is open for community events, wedding receptions, fashion shows, banquets, etc. The cost to rent either building is $125 / hr. 


    To inquire about renting our facilities for your specific event, give us a call at (816) 924-5393 (Mt Vernon Baptist Church). If there is no answer, leave a specific message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.  Or, send us a message directly from our Contact Us page, found here.

  • Can I submit a prayer request online?

    Absolutely! We would love to hear from you and be able to pray for your needs. Visit the "Prayer Requests" tab here to find our prayer request submission form. You have the option to keep your request private, so that only Pastor Givens sees it- or public, so that the whole church may pray for you. Your submission is confidential, and sent directly to our church staff.

  • Am I able to make a donation online?

    Yes! We have a convenient online donation portal for you to give a monetary gift of support, which can be found here. Our church is located in a community where residents experience high rates of economic and social disadvantage. We need your help and support to enable our church family to help families and children with the difficulties that they face. Any and all donations are used for the glory of God, to strengthen and reach our community for Him. We accept donations conveniently and securely through PayPal, which allows you to choose whichever payment method you prefer.
